This week, we begin Unit 2 of our new reading series, and every grade level is taking a deep dive into characters!

Kindergarten: Every Story Has Characters

1st Grade: All Kinds of Characters

2nd Grade: Characters Facing Challenges

3rd Grade: Ways Characters Shape Stories

4th Grade: Characters’ Actions and Reactions

5th Grade: Characters’ Relationships

This is a great opportunity to continue learning at home! Talk with your child about the characters in the stories they are reading—or even make connections to characters they see in their favorite television shows or YouTube videos. Ask them about a character’s actions, feelings, thoughts, and words. You might be surprised by how much they can tell you!

Our STEAM presentations and partnerships are underway! We are especially excited about a wonderful opportunity for our Kindergarten and 4th-grade students through our partnership with Orlando Family Stage. Over the next six weeks, students will participate in a special project that integrates the arts with what they are currently learning in the classroom.

If you have not already, turin in your rocket this week.

Every student who returns a rocket earns 1 point for their House, and the House that returns the MOST rockets earns an additional 50 POINTS!

We know everyone is ready to order their Little River t-shirts. We were trying to wait to have it go through PTA, but we know you want them now! We don't blame you! This week, Ms. O'Connell will be sending out the t-shirt order forms. 

On Fridays, teachers send down students who went above and beyond to the prize machine. The prize machine was created using a 3D printer from our SRO (Deputy Pearl), and the prizes are also made with a 3D printer. Above are pictures of two students who earned a Fun Friday spin!

Next week, we have TWO important dates that we need our Little River families to have on their calendars!

PLEASE join us! We are working to rebuild and strengthen our PTA, and we need YOU! Parent voices and involvement are so important as we work together to make Little River the very best it can be. Whether you can volunteer a little, a lot, or simply want to stay connected and informed, we would love to have you there!

Our Back to School Bash is going to be a great night! You’ll have an opportunity to meet with teachers from your child’s grade level, learn more about what your child will be learning this year, and discover ways you can support their success at home. This is also your time to ask questions and really connect with our teachers.

But don’t worry—it won’t be all work and information! We’ll also have some World Cup fun happening in the cafeteria! Come ready to learn, connect, and have some fun with our Little River community.
