This week is the final opportunity for students to turn in any missing assignments before report card grades are finalized! Please encourage your student to check with their teachers and get everything submitted.
We believe that communication is key. If you'd like to discuss your student's academic standing or classroom performance, please don't hesitate to contact their classroom teacher to set up a time to talk. Your partnership is essential, and we're here to help!
FOCUS ON KINDNESS!
I wanted to share an observation I’ve been making, especially with our older students: I’m noticing a trend of quickly speaking negatively about peers. I addressed this with students on the announcements Friday, emphasizing that we are a school family.
We don't expect everyone to be best friends, but every student deserves respect and kindness. I am reinforcing the simple but powerful Golden Rule across all our classrooms: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Adopting this simple rule will help eliminate many of the social challenges we’re currently seeing.
It's easy to spot a negative, but we want to train our focus to see the good. The brain naturally tends to look for problems; let’s actively retrain it to see the positives and the unique beauty each person brings to our school.
How you can help: Please talk to your child about the power of positive language and shifting their focus to the good qualities in their classmates. We bring the energy into this building—let's make it a positive one!
I see the good in YOU cards!
I have challenged students and staff to see the good in others. On Monday, everyone will receive a green See The Good card. I want them to write their name on it (First name, last initial and grade level) and pass it on to someone they see the good in. That person writes their name and passes it on to someone else. This continues throughout the week. Students will turn in any cards they have on Friday. I will select at least one card, and the students listed on the card will receive a prize. Let's focus on the positive!
